Photo Organizing is a thing?

Yes!

And its needed now more than ever before!

Think about it...

Photography was only developed about 200 years ago; and for most of its history, people did not regularly take photos for a variety of reasons.

Nowadays, people take pictures DAILY and we’re taking more pictures every year.

All the while, film, slides, and printed photos are now decades old and sitting in acidic photo books, fragile paper envelopes, and film canisters stored in basements and attics. If not thoughtfully stored both digitally and physically, these pieces of media are in danger of being lost to time. The concern is especially high with the repercussions of the global temperature rising.

While digitizing photos is a step in the right direction, it is also imperative that photos have multiple digital back ups because...

  • Hard drives fail everyday

  • People lose access to accounts

  • Cloud services have quickly emerged and disappeared

The best way to ensure these files are kept whole for the future is to maintain three copies of your collection in two separate locations. One of these locations should be a paid cloud storage service and the other should be a computer and/ or external hard drive.

The only way today's photos can be enjoyed well into the future is when a digital collection is

decluttered and thoughtfully curated.

On our phones, we are all taking numerous screenshots, taking ten versions of the same photo, and downloading photos from text messages.

We have to!

Multiple steps can be taken to better curate your digital photo legacy such as:

  • Removing duplicate or unnecessary photos

  • Enabling Facial Recognition

  • Adding Keywords

Not to mention... Decluttering your photos can also save you MONEY on cloud storage!

I know, it's a lot.

But Sincerely Kept can do the heavy lifting.
